Survey the Lessons Learned About Managing Forests for Biodiversity and Sustainability Based on Practical Experiences
A survey consisting of 15 questions with 160 possible responses was distributed via email and mail to forest landowners and land managers across the United States. Complete questionnaires were not received from all region and landowner classes resulting in some data gaps.
For purposes of this study, survey questions are keyed to three geographical regions (northeast [Maine to Minnesota to Missouri to Maryland], southeast, and west), nine landowner groups (federal, state, municipal, non-government organization, tribal, private, industrial, timber investment management organization, and consultant), and three acreages (small <500 acres, medium 500 - 100,000, large >100,000).
Three options are available to view results:
- Overview of Summary Results: 12 overview graphs
- Searchable database: search the database results according to five criteria: region, landowner group, acreage, success at implementing sustainable forest management, degree of completion of implementing biodiversity indicators.
- Detailed database review: Contact Leon Liegel to request a copy of the database for detailed data analysis.
