Assessing American Indians Affinity to Forestland

The College of Menominee Nation and the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) are collaborating on a US Forest Service project titled "Assessing American Indians Affinity to Forestland."

In this project the two SFP institutions are collaborating to evaluate American Indians views of the social component of sustainable forest management, to provide information to further define sustainable forest management as recommended in several assessments of American Indian forestland, to examine Montreal Process Criteria 6 and 7 in comparison with American Indian views of sustainable forest management, and to provide American Indian forest managers and communities with information to use in the assessment of sustainable forest management. In this process, PSU will assist with a series of focus groups, conduct a national survey of tribal forest managers or leaders, and work with other partners on the proposal to interpret the data developed.
